AUDIT OFFICE OF THE INSTITUTIONS OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

The Audit Office of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, from the very beginning of its establishment, implements international cooperation with supreme audit institutions of other countries and regional and international associations of public sector audit institutions as well as other relevant institutions. The aim of the international cooperation is to exchange experiences, knowledge and information, to inform the international public about the results and activities of the Audit Office and to develop an appropriate image of the Office as a professional and credible audit institution, as well as to monitoring development trends and contribution to the development of the audit profession.

International cooperation of the Audit Office of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina takes place through:

  1. Membership in international professional associations and activities within these associations. The Audit Office is a member of INTOSAI (International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions) since 2001 and EUROSAI (European Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions) since 2002. The Audit Office actively participates in the work of these organizations and activities they organise (congresses, training programs, seminars, conferences, working groups) aimed at improving the public sector audit and strengthening cooperation between state audits;
  2. Cooperation between Supreme Audit Institutions of Candidate and Potential Candidate countries and the European Court of Auditors (ECA) is taking place within the framework of the Network of Supreme Audit Institutions of Candidate and Potential Candidate counties and the ECA where the Audit Office holds the status of an active member. Significant support to the activities of the Network is provided by SIGMA, a joint initiative of the European Union and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The Audit Office is an active observer within the Contact Committee of Supreme Audit Institutions of the European Union countries.
  3. The Audit Office successfully achieves bilateral cooperation with other state audit offices through joint seminars, study visits, exchange of experience, knowledge and information.
  4. In addition to cooperation with other state audits and professional associations, the Audit Office continuously establishes and maintains contacts with other international institutions/organizations, such as the World Bank, USAID, SIGMA, GRECO, etc.
